Church

Today I went up to the front of church and spoke about my plans to go to Uganda. I was so nervous but it went a lot better than expected. People came up to pray for me and I showed a video clip of the Village of Hope. I then sold Subway cookies at the end which I'd baked yesterday. All 140 cookies were sold!! I was overwhelmed by the support from everyone, the conversations I had with people and the generosity of some donations! So grateful, great morning.
Will post the total amount I raised once it's counted...

November Planning 2

Talks with J about how to find sponsorship help from the church. Planning to go up and talk about my plans, show a video clip and possibly a cookie sale at the end (thanks to Subway).
Will be open for donations and making a small leaflet about the trip for people to take away.
J has been giving so much time to help me, very grateful!

November Planning

The decision is that I will be leaving on the 3rd February, the day after we get home from the church youth weekend away at Quinta where I will be a leader.
Plans for this week are to

  • Look into setting up a JustGiving page
  • Look at flight options and book!
  • Choose video clip to show church
  • Discuss the idea of buying cookies from my boss to sell at church
  • Plan what to say at church

Where I'm actually going

Uganda - East Africa. Jinja is just East of Kampala (Capital) - the tiny little orange place.

Saving

I was promoted just at the right time, thanks God. It was just as I started to save for the trip. I went full time as a supervisor (at Subway for those who don't know) and have been working up to 48 hours per week. As I've just come out of education it's the most I've ever worked!
I've never really had to save this much money before so it's taught me a lot and I've shocked myself at how easy I've found it to actually put away 3/4 of my wage instead of spending it!
I have raised £1000.00 so far (as of November) which I am pleased with as it's over half of what I require in total for the trip and all the associated costs involved.
